First Harvest Asanoka
First Harvest Asanoka
NEW CULTIVAR **shipping in June** — thank you for your patience during the global matcha shortage. In May we are visiting our tea farm in Wazuka, Japan (seriously!) to participate in the Spring harvest and get your Sisters Matcha to you as soon as we can! Follow along on our journey on Instagram: @sisters.matcha
Always single origin, single cultivar, and single estate, our ceremonial grade First Harvest Asanoka is brought to you by two sisters who lived on the small family farm where this matcha was grown.
Savor the elegant complexity of our First Harvest Asanoka. Each sip reveals a soft, buttery texture with layered notes of roasted chestnut, sweet cream, and melon. A gentle umami unfolds beneath the surface, giving way to a clean, satisfying finish that’s both grounding and refined.
100% shade grown from ultra premium tencha tea leaves sourced from Wazuka, Japan.
Asanoka (あさのか) translates to "fragrance of the morning," a name that reflects the cultivar’s fresh, uplifting character. This first flush (first harvest) cultivar is known for its natural sweetness, high L-theanine content, and low bitterness — making it a beautifully balanced matcha for both new and seasoned drinkers.
Asanoka is one of the rarest cultivars used for ceremonial matcha, making up less than 1% of total tea production in Japan. Originally developed in Kagoshima, it is a cross between the widely cultivated Yabukita and a Chinese variety known as Hiramizu. At our small family owned farm in Wazuka, we’ve devoted a carefully tended plot to this exceptional cultivar — allowing us to offer you a truly unique and limited first harvest. Its elegant profile and scarcity make each cup a rare and intentional experience.
Enjoy daily as a moment of calm, clarity, and connection.
Serving size: 15–30 cups.
Please note: orders will be shipping in June.
